RIT Entrepreneurs Conference

RIT hosted the 2007 Entrepreneurs Conference during Brick City Homecoming on Oct. 5. This year’s theme, Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the New Economy, emphasized how digital technologies created new industries and changed the nature of competition among industries.

The fourth Entrepreneurs Conference was the best attended ever, with approximately 450 students attending one or more of the concurrent panel sessions. Every year the enthusiasm for this conference increases, with topics such as this years 'Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the New Economy reflecting the influence in digital technologies which has created new industries and spurred competition in many others. Topics such as Social Networking, Web 2.0, Video Gaming, Software and New Media and Digital Media were featured in the dozen workshops and sessions held throughout the day.

The conference kicked off with a welcome speech by RIT President William W. Destler, whose key focus at RIT is innovation. Other featured speakers included David Sifry, founder and Chairman of the Board of Technorati, Inc. David Koretz, founder and CEO of Blue Tie and Karthik Bala, CEO/Chief Creative Officer of Vicarious Visions also spoke.

The Conference was a great success, and the enthusiastic attendance emphasizes the increasing interest and importance of entrepreneurship in today’s business world.
